Thighplasty St. Louis

If a proper diet and regular exercise are not giving you the results you want, you may be interested in a thighplasty. When you’re feeling self-conscious about your thighs due to excess skin and fat, it can be hard to enjoy social activities. Thighplasty, also known as a thigh lift, can reduce this excess tissue for a more contoured look.

What’s the Purpose of a Thighplasty?

Thighplasty addresses the appearance of your upper legs. Excess skin is impossible to tighten with diet and exercise, and stubborn fat is highly resistant to these methods. With a thigh lift, you can see a dramatic reduction in the amount of drooping skin and fat.

Am I a Good Candidate?

If you have excess skin and pockets of excess fat as a result of aging or major weight loss, a thigh lift may be right for you. Those who feel like their sagging thighs are making them look overweight and out of shape are perfect for the procedure.

You will need to be in good general health and should not smoke or drink, as this could impact the speed of your recovery.

What Happens During a Consultation for Thighplasty?

You will need to arrange a consultation with one of our surgeons before setting a date for your thighplasty. A consultation is a meeting between you and your surgeon where you will communicate your goals for the surgery. They will help you set realistic expectations for the procedure.

Your surgeon will go over the procedure in detail, including preparation and recovery. The consultation also determines your candidacy for the procedure; your medical history will play a role in determining this, as will many other factors.

Thigh-Lift Types

The procedure will occur on an outpatient basis and will involve anesthesia. Depending on the results you are hoping to achieve, you can undergo an:

Inner-Thigh Lift: Focuses on removing excess tissue from the inner thigh. Typically, an incision is made from this region to the pubic area. This allows for articles of clothing to mask any signs of incisions, keeping the incision discreet.

Outer-Thigh Lift: Focuses on removing excess tissue from the outer thigh. An outer-thigh lift, or bilateral thigh lift, addresses the top-outer part of the thigh region. This region is typically visible when wearing shorts and other articles of clothing, so you will notice a drastic difference in putting on your shorts or swimwear.

Thigh-Lift Recovery

The thighplasty recovery process is fairly simple and efficient. When the surgery is finished, you will wear a compression garment to ensure optimal healing. You will need to arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home following the surgery. It will be necessary to take some time off from work to rest and recover.
