Areolar Sparing Reconstruction
This patient developed right breast cancer. She underwent bilateral areolar-sparing mastectomies via small horizontal incisions that removed only the projecting part of her nipple for cancer reasons. Dr. Geiger performed reconstruction by first placing subpectoral tissue expanders and alloderm. This was later exchanged for smooth round highly cohesive (gummy bear) silicone implants and fat grafting giving her an amazing full but natural appearance. Her remaining areolar tissue allows her to feel whole again without worrying about a nipple protruding through her clothing.
