Areolar Sparing Mastectomies, Prepectoral Direct to Shaped Implant Reconstruction

This patient developed left breast cancer. She underwent bilateral areolar-sparing mastectomies via small horizontal incisions that removed only the projecting part of her nipple for cancer reasons and patient desires. Dr. Geiger performed immediate prepectoral (above the muscle) reconstruction with highly cohesive (gummy bear) smooth round silicone implants. This gave her a bit of an augmentation/volume enhancement as desired, as well as a subtle breast lift. Her remaining areolar tissue allows her to feel whole again without worrying about a nipple protruding through her clothing. She has added oncologic (cancer) benefit of no remaining ductal tissue to further decrease recurrence risks.
