Panniculectomy

This patient suffered from excess lower abdominal tissue hanging well below her waist. This caused severe rashes and painful wounds. She underwent a lower abdominal panniculectomy, removing the overhanging skin and fat. She had fairly thin tissue with only an inch or so of fat. She was not a candidate for a tummy tuck as she unfortunately has too much intra-abdominal fullness (deep to her muscles) that precludes safe tightening of the abdominal wall. Her intra-abdominal fullness can be improved with diet and exercise, but not excisional surgery.
