This patient had a history of right breast cancer 15 years ago. She underwent removal of her right breast without reconstruction at that time. She subsequently developed a new left breast cancer. She underwent removal of the left breast and immediate reconstruction of both sides using tissue expanders to stretch her right chest wall skin back out. This was performed in the prepectoral (on top of the muscle) location to minimize discomfort. The tissues were stretched and she later underwent exchange to the latest generation, highly cohesive (gummy bear) smooth round silicone implants for a much improved appearance and symmetry.
